EA Sports NHL 25 Ratings

The 2024-25 NHL season is right around the corner, which means it’s time for EA Sports to release the latest installment of their video game franchise, NHL 25.

Although the Hughes brothers, Jack, Quinn, and Luke, grace the cover, none outranked Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby. His overall rating of 94 ranked ninth out of the top 299 players.

Today, we want to look at the ratings of the nine Penguins who scored an 84 or better, but first, here’s a look at the top ten:

2. Nathan MacKinnon (Colorado) 96

3. Nikita Kucherov (Tampa Bay) 95

4. Cale Makar (Colorado) 95

5. Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton) 95

6. Auston Matthews (Toronto) 95

8. Artemi Panarin (New York) 95

9. Sidney Crosby (Pittsburgh) 94

Top Penguins Ranked Players: NHL 25

Interestingly, Pittsburgh had three players, Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Erik Karlsson, rank within the top 50 for NHL 24.

However, that number has dwindled to just one now, with Crosby serving as the team’s lone representative near the top of the charts.

4. Kris Letang – 87 (120th)

5. Tristan Jarry – 86 (172nd)

9. Kevin Hayes – 84 (294th)

The Penguins have a team rating of 88, with their offense and defense scoring 90 apiece, while their goaltending rating brings down their overall score with an 84 rating.

Regarding their rankings among the 32 teams in the NHL, here’s how Pittsburgh’s scores played out:

• Overall: 17th (tied with Calgary, Minnesota, Nashville, and St. Louis

• Forwards: 17th (tied with Boston, Winnipeg, Detroit, Minnesota, Los Angeles, Seattle, Ottawa, and Buffalo

• Defense: 16th (tied with Edmonton, Vegas, St. Louis, Winnipeg, Detroit, and Columbus)

• Goalies: 18th (tied with Toronto, Ottawa, and Anaheim)

Out of the eight teams in the Metropolitan Division, here is where the Penguins’ rankings stack up:

The answer is yes for those curious about whether top prospects like Rutger McGroarty or Sergei Murashov are available in NHL 25, but they have not been rated.

However, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins appear to be one of the weaker farm teams in the game, with an overall rating of 69. That’s broken down by scores of 60 (offense), 73 (defense), and 75 (goaltending).
