Stardew Valley’spositively received 1.6 update finally has a release date for consoles and mobile, and it won’t be long before gamers can enjoy it. Indeed, the update is set for a November 4 release, which is just 43 days from now.

That bit of information comes from Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone on Twitter, who shared the news in a post that immediately garnered positive attention.

The game designer and musician also took time to answer a few questions from fans about the update.

Barone Shares Some Of His Thought Process

First and foremost, “almost everything” can be experienced from an existing save, though you’re more than welcome to start fresh on a new save when the update does go live. Both the Nintendo Switch and PS5 will be part of that Nov. 4 update date, so fans need not worry about their platform of choice being delayed.

And as to why exactly things took this long following the update’s release on PC, ConcernedApe had a really thoughtful response. In response to some flack about staggering the release so that every platform has parity, Barone had this to say:

I’ve always released on PC first, because it’s sort of a “beta test” to make sure there are no critical (e.g. save-destroying) bugs, which are a much bigger deal on consoles because they can’t be patched out as quickly. However, I never intended for the delay to be this long.

It obviously sounds like this was a decision that was made lightly. A game-breaking bug would be detrimental, so it certainly makes sense for the delay, even if it was a long one.

As for what exactly update 1.6 brings, well, it’s a lot. The update, which went live in March, brought a slew of content and features to gamers, including added festivals and events, as well as new NPC dialogues and visual improvements across the board. The full changelog, which can be found here, is massive.

Considering that fans have had to wait since March for any word on a console release, 43 days of extra waiting doesn’t seem too bad. Patience most certainly pays off.
