Get ready to raise your steins and let loose in downtown Wooster.

That’s right, Woosterfest 2024 returns Friday to Saturday with a variety of events for all ages.

One of the main attractions is the Biergarten and Weingarten, where visitors can sample local beers and wines while enjoying live entertainment. The festival features continuous music from local and regional bands, playing everything from classic rock to polka.

The Beer Stein Holding Contest challenges participants to hold a full beer stein in an outstretched arm for as long as possible. The Pig Mac Eating Contest invites those with hearty appetites to compete in devouring large portions of food in a timed challenge. Additionally, the cornhole tournaments attract teams from across the region, competing in different divisions for prizes.

A special children’s area, the Kinderplatz, will be set up to entertain younger visitors. Activities include face painting, balloon animals, and a variety of interactive games, ensuring the event remains family-friendly.

Showcasing businesses and artisans in downtown Wooster

There is even something for pets. Wiener dogs are invited to participate in eighth annual Woosterfest Wiener Dog Race and Costume Contest. Prizes will be awarded to the race winners as well as to the best costume in each age category.

Woosterfest continues its tradition of supporting local businesses and artisans. The festival will feature booths showcasing handmade crafts, jewelry and various unique items for sale, offering visitors an opportunity to support local makers.

Food vendors will offer a variety of options, from traditional German to local specialties. Vendors such as Old World Foods, Lerch’s Donuts and Shloneger’s Old-Fashioned Homemade Ice Cream are just a few of the many that will be present, providing diverse dining choices for festival-goers.

“Woosterfest is always an exciting time,” said Samira Zimmerly, president of the Wooster Area Chamber of Commerce. “Its a fun event to plan and planning an event this size comes with challenges. But its rewarding being able to bring Woosterfest to the community and watch it all come together.”

Throughout the two-day event, Woosterfest draws crowds looking to enjoy its blend of culture, music and family fun. Whether a fan of German food, a music lover or simply looking for a lively community gathering, the festival offers something for everyone.

The event will be held rain or shine, 4-11 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday.
