When attendees went to take their seats at Bottega Veneta’s show on Saturday, many were surprised to find themselves face to … snout (?) with rows of cushy, animal-shaped bean bags instead of the traditional (and cramped) benches ever present at fashion shows. The Italian fashion house, which has developed a reputation for fun and quirky sets these past few seasons, had deployed, according to Vogue, an army of these leather chairs in the shape of at least 15 species: dogs, pandas, rabbits, ladybirds, snake, birds, chickens, dinosaurs, otters, elephants, cats, foxes, bears, horses, and whales. I’m disappointed there wasn’t a Moo Deng–shaped one, but alas.

Bottega’s creative director, Matthieu Blazy, was inspired by the 1968 Zanotta Sacco chair, a blobby, leather bean bag representative of the laid-back, free-spirited decade of the late ’60s and ’70s. Blazy revamped the chairs by adding a cheeky, playful spin, which is how we arrived at Jacob Elordi cuddling up on a bunny (thank you!).

Blazy told the Cut’s fashion critic, Cathy Horyn, that he wanted to consider the idea of wonder this season: “The opposite of disillusionment,” he told her. On his mood board, Horyn spotted photos of Tom Hanks in the movie Big, Little Edie Beale from Grey Gardens, an illustration from 101 Dalmatians, and a still from when E.T. hides in a group of stuffed animals. It evokes a sense of nostalgia and whimsy, but, he emphasized to Horyn, “It’s not about childhood.”

For fellow obsessives, and if you have $7,000 to $10,500 to spare, these Sacco-inspired bean bags are available for purchase online. And if you have 20 grand to blow, could you grab one for me? Preferably one of the rabbit poufs? Thanks!
