UPDATE: Rukavina Bridge reopens after stuck semi closed southbound travel

8:30 P.M. UPDATE: The bridge has fully reopened. Crews successfully got the semi moving again and southbound traffic is flowing smoothly.

VIRGINIA, Minn. (Northern News Now) – A semi hauling a house became stuck on Virginia’s Rukavina Bridge Monday evening.

The stalled semi has closed the southbound lanes of Highway 53.

As of 8 p.m., crews were working to re-route southbound traffic with law enforcement on scene.

Traffic is being detoured through Virginia.

While it’s unclear what caused the truck to stall, MnDOT estimates the closure to last until around 10 p.m.
