YouTube has announced a partnership with Shopee to launch ‘YouTube Shopping,’ a program aimed at enhancing the shopping experience for viewers and providing creators with new income opportunities. Initially introduced in Indonesia, this program is set to expand to other Southeast Asian markets, starting with Thailand and Vietnam in the coming weeks.

YouTube Shopping allows viewers to shop while watching content from their preferred creators by featuring a complete list of tagged products and relevant information; subsequently available in the video description and a dedicated ‘products’ section. Viewers can “click on products they find interesting and will be redirected to external sales pages for convenient purchasing —creators can also tag products in both new and existing videos, as well as during live streams” for content flexibility.

Moreover, by seamlessly incorporating shopping functionalities within video content, YouTube Shopping “seeks to elevate viewer engagement while fortifying the relationship between creators and their audiences.”
