Loewe Launches Stylish Portable Laser Home Entertainment Projector
German luxury AV brand Loewe’s apparent mission to inject its unique premium design and performance DNA into every part of home entertainment life has extended even further today with the launch of its new “We. BEAM” home entertainment projector.
Having recently targeted living rooms with its spectacular concrete-backed Stellar OLED TVs, Loewe has clearly designed the We. BEAM to give its fans a way to enjoy big Loewe images no matter where they are. At just 17.5(w) x 4.8(h)x 17.5(d)cm in size and weighing only 0.83kg, it easily fits in a briefcase or shoulder bag, as well as sitting comfortably on even the smallest coffee table with total stability thanks to an integrated silicone O-ring base.
It’s so small and light, in fact, that Loewe has fitted it with an integrated standard (1/4-inch/6.35mm) tripod mount point. It doesn’t have a built-in battery, but you can power it using a USB-C battery pack as well as the included external plug in power supply.
The We. BEAM’s exterior is a classic example of the sort of premium design ethic Loewe likes to bring to all of its products. A Storm Grey acoustic fabric covers the back two thirds or so of the top, left and right sides, while a smooth black finish occupies the front third or so. The recessed lens on the front benefits from a nice silver accent circle around it, too, and build quality throughout is excellent. Overall the We. BEAM just feels.. cool. In a way most portable projectors… aren’t.
Turning to the We. BEAM’s insides, its advanced Laser Phosphor Display Technology (appearing for the first time in a European projector) is claimed to deliver superior brightness and light efficiency compared with regular portable laser projectors, resulting in a claimed maximum light output of 500 Lumens and an image size range of 40 to 120 inches. The latter being unusually big for a portable projector of the We. BEAM’s type.
The projector’s full HD, HDR-capable pictures are easy to get up and running thanks to automatic screen alignment and keystone correction, while a built-in Loewe OS smart streaming system gives you instant access to various video streaming services including Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube, Disney+ and Apple TV+.
You can also stream content to the projector from your phone or tablet using Miracast, or attach external sources via an HDMI port equipped with both CEC and ARC functionality (the latter allowing you to pass sound through the projector to an attached soundbar or AVR). Other connections include a USB-A port and a 3.5mm stereo jack, as well as wireless Bluetooth support you could use to add external audio solutions such as one or two of Loewe’s new We. HEAR pro speakers.
The We. BEAM does have an integrated 10W stereo sound system, though, ensuring that this really is a true plug and play product.
The Loewe We. BEAM is available now for £859/€999 from Loewe’s own UK and European websites, with other UK retailers coming online with it from tomorrow (September 25).
