Yesterday morning city crews started demoing land for a second entrance to the CVS parking lot. The brunt of the road restrictions has yet to come.

The right westbound lane of Smith-Enke Road, just west of John Wayne Parkway, was closed at 5 a.m. yesterday. It will remain closed throughout the week.

Crews next Monday will narrow Smith-Enke Road to one lane and close the outer left turn lane onto John Wayne Parkway. One northbound John Wayne Parkway lane will be closed.

The restrictions “will be in place until this phase of the project is complete,” city spokesperson Monica Williams said.

As a detour, city officials suggest drivers avoid Smith-Enke Road and use Honeycutt Road to get to John Wayne Parkway.
