Skyline Chili is celebrating its 75th birthday by attempting to break a Guinness World Record.
The company announced Wednesday that it is hosting a public birthday bash from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 9 at Fountain Square in downtown Cincinnati. During the party, Skyline will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most photos of hot dogs uploaded to Instagram in one hour, per a press release.
The Guinness World Record attempt takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To win the title, Skyline needs fans to upload at least 500 photos of cheese coneys to Instagram during the designated hour.
According to the release, all participants should ensure that their profile is set to public. The caption of the photos must include the hashtag #SkylineChiliWorldRecord. Photos must also be uploaded to your Instagram feed. Instagram Stories do not qualify.
Participants do not need to upload their photos from Fountain Square to participate.
The first 250 people to share a cheese coney picture on their Instagram feeds receive a $15 Skyline gift card. All participants will also be eligible for a chance to win a $1,500 gift card redeemable for 500 free cheese coneys.
In addition to the record-breaking attempt, the party will include appearances from Mayor Aftab Pureval, as well as the Bengals, Reds, FC Cincinnati, University of Cincinnati, Xavier and Cincinnati Cyclones mascots. The event will also feature local favorite vendors, such as Graeter’s Ice Cream, Dewey’s Pizza and, of course, Skyline Chili.
