AsianInNY Fashion Show highlights global designers and talent in Flushing – QNS

The AsianInNY 2024 New York Fashion Show brought an infusion of creativity and international talent to Flushing on Sunday, Sept. 22, showcasing the works of acclaimed designers and performers.

The event took place at the newly renovated Taipei Economic and Cultural Office Culture Center, located at 133-32 41st Rd., near Main Street in Flushing.

Hosted by AsianInNY, the event featured collections from two designers, Alexander King Chen and Kai Ting Chen, alongside a performance by renowned dancer PeiJu Chien-Pott. Fashion illustrations by award-winning artist Nina Edwards added visual depth to the experience, creating a dynamic celebration of fashion and the arts.

Alexander King Chen, a Taiwanese-American designer and filmmaker, presented a collection that highlighted his bold, artistic vision. Known for his collaborations with major brands like Estée Lauder and Mercedes Benz, Chen has also garnered international recognition for his work in film and design. His short films have won accolades at prestigious festivals such as the BFI London Film Festival.

Kai Ting Chen, a graduate of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, brought a refined, modern edge to the runway. Having contributed to Peter Do’s 2022 Spring/Summer collection at New York Fashion Week, Chen’s designs for this show reflected her global influence, which includes showcases at London Fashion Week.

The night also featured an electrifying performance by PeiJu Chien-Pott, former principal dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company. Now the founder of PEIJU Performing Arts in Taiwan, Chien-Pott captivated the audience with her contemporary dance performance, adding a dynamic layer to the fashion spectacle.

Illustrator Nina Edwards, a Pratt Institute instructor, showcased her fashion illustrations, infusing the space with creative energy and complementing the runway looks with visual art.
