Atlanta Bread closing after nearly twenty years in business on Sunday

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Atlanta Bread announced on its Facebook page that it will be closing its doors as of this Sunday after nearly twenty years in business.

Jon Bibb, the co-owner and operator of the restaurant, released the following statement:

“After almost 20 years in operation, Andy and I went to negotiate a new lease with our landlord, CBL, as ours was finally up only to be told that our space had already been leased and our side of the center which includes Rack Room and GNC were to be ‘Re-merchandised.’ Over the next few months, we came to the difficult decision to close our doors this Sunday for good. The idea and cost of moving the store that we have put our heart and soul into for two plus decades was too hard and needed to come to and end. We would like to thank all the wonderful people we have met and the amazing staff that has worked with us over the years that we consider family. I can’t thank Wilmington enough for the loyalty and kindness that you guys have showed two college buddies who moved here with a dream. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions but know that we appreciate all the kind words and love you have shown us.”

Atlanta Bread will still operate catering until May 12 when the staff will start moving out, according to the Facebook post.
