Start of Capitals preseason game against Blue Jackets pushed back due to travel issues

Original story: The Washington Capitals’ preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets will start an hour and 15 minutes late. The Capitals say the postponement is due to Columbus experiencing travel issues.

The remnants of Hurricane Helene are currently ravaging parts of Ohio, Tennessee, and North Carolina as it continues to dump heavy rain in the area.

The Capitals said in a statement:

The Washington Capitals preseason game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m. tonight at Capital One Arena, will now start at 8:15 p.m. due to Columbus experiencing travel issues.

Doors to Capital One Arena will open at 6 p.m. as originally scheduled.

Washington announced its roster of players participating in the game on Thursday night. The Capitals then held a morning skate on Friday, during which head coach Spencer Carbery put together his lines and defense pairings.

Around the NHL, the Nashville Predators postponed its preseason game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday night due to Helene.
