RAIDERS FINISH PERFECT AT HOME IN COMEBACK FASHION – Your Sports Network

CANFIELD, OH- In a back-and-forth battle, South Range dug deep to pull off a comeback win over Poland Seminary, finishing with a 38-30 victory in a game that had a little bit of everything.

Poland came out swinging with Vito Komara finding paydirt on an 8-yard run to put the Bulldogs up 7-0. Not long after, David Xipolitas turned on the jets for a 71-yard breakaway touchdown, making it 14-0 in a blink. South Range needed a spark, and Tristan Toy delivered with a 1-yard plunge into the end zone to trim the deficit to 14-7.

The Raiders took over in the second. After Aidan Dominguez blocked a punt and Heath Crouse returned it 13 yards for a score to tie things up, it was Tristan Toy and Aidan Dominguez’s turn to take the spotlight. The dynamic duo punched in a pair of scores on the ground.  First Toy from 5 yards out to give South Range the lead, and added the Dominguez 11-yard rushing touchdown before the half, putting the Raiders up 28-14.  Gaven Nagy would have an electric interception as well to set up the Toy endzone trip.

South Range kept the pedal down coming out of the locker room. Dominguez found the end zone for a third time with a 28-yard touchdown run. Luke Starkey nailed a 28-yard field goal to push the lead to 38-14.

Poland wasn’t going down quietly. Komara connected with Oliver McCully for an 18-yard touchdown pass to close the gap. After a 24-yard field goal by Jas Stefancin, Komara found McCully again for a 7-yard score, cutting the lead to 38-30. But time ran out on the rally, and South Range held on for the win.

-Aidan Dominguez (South Range): 17 carries, 93 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Dominguez was a force on the ground, breaking tackles and finding the end zone.
– David Xipolitas (Poland)*: 8 carries for 112 yards, highlighted by his explosive 71-yard TD run in the first quarter.
– Tristan Toy (South Range) was steady through the air, going 10-for-14 for 95 yards, and added a rushing touchdown to kick-start the comeback.

South Range proved their resilience, shaking off the early deficit and controlling the second and third quarters to pull away. South Range will take to the busses for the first time this season as they travel to Girard next week.  Poland will play host to Niles in Week 7.
