1 dead in overnight shooting in Montgomery County
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) – A man is dead following a shooting at a business, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
At about 3:30 a.m., police received a call of shots fired at Range 231, located just north of Montgomery on Wetumpka Highway.
Shortly after, while responding to the scene, police received a call from Baptist South Hospital of a gunshot wound victim who died from his injuries. The victim was identified as Cardell O’Brian, 27, of Union Springs.
It was determined that O’Brian was the person shot at the business on Wetumpka Highway and was transferred to the hospital by a private ambulance before deputies arrived.
Neither a suspect nor a motive was immediately clear. Police continue to investigate.
