Holmes Beach residents, business owners allowed back onto Anna Maria Island

HOLMES BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — Residents and business owners of Holmes Beach and the City of Anna Maria are allowed back onto the island, the Holmes Beach Police Department announced Saturday.

“The Chief and Mayor have met and the Mayor has asked to let residents and business owners to be allowed to enter the city to start their cleanup efforts,” the department wrote.

Individuals returning to the island must present their re-entry tag or proper ID and documentation with their address of property in the city.

Officials warn that there is still no power or water on the island.

The roads still have standing water and debris, and the island can only be accessed by Manatee Avenue. In Bradenton Beach, roads remain impassable.

Crews have set up barricades at the city line of Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach. There is no entry through Holmes Beach.

Once residents and business owners enter the island, they will be given a flyer with instructions on where to place trash and debris.
