Semi-truck tires slashed at Tennessee travel center, deputies say
DENMARK, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said it is investigating several incidents of vandalism at the TA Travel Center on Highway 138 in Denmark.
Several semi-truck drivers reported that their tires had been slashed while stopped at the travel center.
The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to the truck stop on Sept. 26 at about 8 a.m. and investigated the tires of the trucks impacted.
Deputies said they found several small punctures in the outer sidewall of each of the tires and that they all had the same puncture marks. One of the trucks had all 18 of its tires deflated, according to the sheriff’s office.
One truck driver told deputies that while exiting the parking lot of the travel center, the right passenger-side tire “completely” detached from the wheel.
In total, eight semi-trucks were impacted and 56 tires in all were damaged. The sheriff’s office said the price tag of each tire is estimated at $500.
The sheriff’s office said it is seeking information from the public about the incident and asked anyone with information about the incidents of vandalism to contact the sheriff’s office at 731-423-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-8477.
There were similar incidents reported at a truck stop in Benton County in the Holladay/Sugar Tree area.
