Mrs. Prada Anoints Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban a Fashion It-Girl at Miu Miu

As Paris Fashion Weeks go, the spring 2025 collections have been relatively thin on viral A-list moments. Bella Hadid may have walked at Saint Laurent, but the Beckhams swerved the paps. Harry Styles bolstered his bromance with Alessandro Michele, but Kylie Jenner RSVPed non to Balmain, despite Olivier Rousteing designing an LBD emblazoned with her very bone structure. A smattering of applause, then, for Mrs. Prada, whose X-baiting SS25 casting for Miu Miu included Alexa Chung, Little Simz, Hilary Swank, and Willem Dafoe. If the latter feels a bit “one of these things is not like the others,” recall that the Academy Award winner was among the actors-turned-models at Prada’s fall 2012 Menswear show, also known as The Villains Runway thanks to its line-up of Hollywood bad guys.

Opening today’s presentation in a thoroughly angelic look, meanwhile? Next-gen nepo baby Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban, the 16-year-old daughter of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, in her runway debut. It’s only a few months since Sunday made her first public appearance with her mother when the Babygirl lead accepted her AFI Life Achievement Award in LA. “My daughters have never been…with me on a red carpet–tonight was their first night,” Kidman told the assembled press. Fast forward to June, and the teen caught the attention of the fashion world when she accompanied Nicole to Balenciaga’s couture presentation in a fitted Demna look.

Miu Miu, of course, is well-known for its curveball casting choices. Its fall 2024 catwalk featured Kristin Scott Thomas and The Crown’s Luther Ford on the Palais d’Iéna runway, not to mention a turn from Dr. Qin Huilan, a retired septuagenarian doctor with a penchant for Prada coats. The season before that, Rosemary Ferguson came out of retirement at Mrs. Prada’s request (“It’s a big stage to step onto,” she told Vogue. “I’ve lived a very different life for a long time now…”), while Miranda July made an appearance for spring 2024 before collaborating with the house on the short film Somebody.

Still, Mrs. Prada’s casting specialty might well be celebrity scions; see Miu Miu’s relationship with Esther McGregor, Zaya Wade, and Ella Emhoff. It’s Miu Miu, too, who first cast Lila Moss in a runway show just days after her 18th birthday, with the daughter of Kate Moss and Dazed co-founder Jefferson Hack opening and closing the spring 2021 presentation during Milan Fashion Week. So what does this mean for Sunday Rose Kidman-Urban? Come the fall 2025 collections in February, I’d wager we’re in for a month of Sundays.
