Diamond Sports Group plans to only keep Braves for 2025 MLB season

Eight teams in addition to the Braves remain under contract with DiamondGetty Images

Diamond Sports Group today in U.S. bankruptcy court stated that it plans to only continue broadcasting the Braves, meaning the 11 other MLB teams with Diamond “will either have to negotiate a new deal … or go elsewhere,” according to The Athletic’s Evan Drellich. Eight teams in addition to the Braves teams remain under contract with Diamond. MLB lawyers claimed that this is the “first MLB is hearing of this plan.” Attorney Jim Bromley said, “We’ve had no opportunity to review and now we’re in front of the court and being asked to make our comments.” Diamond carried 12 MLB teams this season — the Guardians, Rangers and Twins were on one-year deals, though the Angels, Braves, Reds, Tigers Royals, Marlins, Brewers, Cardinals and Rays extend through next season (X, 10/2).
