For those who enjoy watching models get dolled up and owning the runway, this Saturday offers something special. Fredericksburg Fashion Week (FXBG VA FW) is set to host its annual fashion show from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at The Publisher: a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, located at 711 William St. in Fredericksburg.

FXBG VA FW CEO Latoya White of Fredericksburg, and Vice President Allison Harper, will lead the seventh-annual event. Fashion Week was established to support economic growth in fashion design, clothing merchandising, modeling, and entertainment, while also boosting the visibility of fashion in the local and D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) areas, according to White.

This year’s show will feature designs by Laini Inc., seen in Washington D.C. Fashion Week, and Bailey Creations, who were highlighted at Colorado Fashion Week, along with other designers.

“My staff and I do a great job working with a variety of fashion designers,” White said.

Expect bold candy-colored hues like blue, orange, pink, and green to be the focus of the seventh annual show. Goodwill Industries will also be featured, with a segment showcasing clothing from local stores, personally styled by White.

White’s passion for fashion began when she was a child, and she now has over 15 years of industry experience. While in college, White majored in business and took numerous fashion classes at the University of Maryland and Norfolk State, a historically-Black university.

In 2013, she launched her own clothing line, Latour Leon, which she has since passed down to her eldest son.

“I love giving others the opportunity to showcase their work through my platform, helping them reach their fashion goals,” White said.

Previous shows have been held at various locations in Fredericksburg, including Central Station on Princess Anne Street, Fredericksburg Expo Center, Hyatt Place Fredericksburg Mary Washington, Courtyard Marriott Fredericksburg Historic District and the Holiday Inn Conference Center on Warrenton Road.

FXBG VA FW prides itself on inclusivity and celebrating beauty in all its forms. White believes that’s what sets her organization apart. Sponsored by Goodwill Industries, Target, and Walmart, the fashion show will welcome representatives from all three organizations.
