Fall Fitness & Morning Hacks: Katie Austin Partners With Amazon Devices To Boost Fall Workouts
Following in her well known mom’s footsteps, Katie Austin has filled her life with health and fitness and wants to help others do the same.
The fitness personality, recipe developer, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, and creator of the Katie Austin app recently partnered with Amazon Devices to share how she uses Alexa to help organize her mornings and enhance her workouts.
Katie Austin Shares How Alexa Can Help You Fall Into A Healthier Lifestyle
Katie isn’t new to the world of fitness and health. In addition to her mom, Denise Austin, being a well-known fitness instructor and coach, Katie had a Division I lacrosse career at USC before becoming a full-time sports host. Loving her side gig life that revolved around fitness, teaching classes and writing a blog, Katie seemed to be destined to help others adopt a healthier lifestyle though fitness and better choices in eating.
Katie recently partnered with Amazon Devices saying it is “such an authentic fit because I genuinely use Alexa Devices every day.”
“Not only does my Echo Spot keep me on track starting my morning routine, but it also helps me stay on track with my daily movement and workout goals,” Katie told The Blast exclusively. “I’m always asking Alexa to set timers in between sets or play music depending on my workout. I love a more relaxing soundtrack when practicing yoga, and I’ll blast the pump-up music when I’m doing a faster-paced, upbeat workout.”
An Echo Spot Is A Must-Have For Katie Austin
For Katie, having a morning routine is a “huge factor in accomplishing goals,” and she credits her Echo Spot for keeping her on track and organized. She also explained how she finds “little ways to spark joy” in the morning to get her day going strong.
“I set up Alexa Routines to streamline my mornings by turning on the lights, letting me know what’s on my calendar for the day and starting a music playlist,” she told The Blast.
“Another huge part of my morning routine is honestly my coffee mug. I always talk about finding little ways to spark joy – and even if that’s something as small as having a cute mug that is for my coffee only, starting off on the right foot is so important! A morning routine really sets the tone for your day!”
Tips For Starting A New Workout Routine
For anyone who’s starting a new fitness routine, Katie suggests starting small.
“If you’re just beginning, don’t aim for seven workouts a week – ease into it. A great way to stick to a fitness routine is to treat it like any other priority in your life. Schedule it!” she said.
“Ask Alexa to add a hold on your calendar, whether it’s 15 or 45 minutes, whatever works for you. By carving out that time every day or every other day, the routine will soon become second nature, just like muscle memory.”
Hectic Life? No Problem!
And for people who are living hectic lives and need some tips on how to get those workouts into their day, Katie shared some ideas that might help.
“I only have 15 minutes of consistency in my days: I wake up, feed my dog, drink a glass of water, review my agenda for the day, and stretch for a few minutes in the morning. Alexa and Echo Spot help keep me on track, since my schedule changes by the day,” Katie told The Blast. “You can also turn social plans into active activities. If you’re meeting your friends, you can go on a coffee walk, pick up a sport like pickleball or tennis, or even stream a workout video together.”
Katie also said she uses her Alexa to schedule workouts at specific times on her calendar, as if she was scheduling a meeting. She also asks Alexa to set reminders for her to drink water or do some quick stretching.
Sharing What She Learned From Her Mom
Katie definitely picked up a thing or two from her fitness guru mom, Denise. Her mom always instilled that “walking is so much more important than you think.”
“She always says sitting is the new smoking,” Katie shared. “Which, especially in this digital age where we can be chained to our desks or our screens, I see so much truth to it.”
But that doesn’t mean you have to fit miles of walking into every day. Katie suggests taking the long way home or the stairs instead of the elevator, and take a 15 to 20 minute walk when you can.
“I promise, while it seems simple, walking is a huge key player in your cardio health,” Katie added.
When asked what workouts she’s loving lately, Katie shared that she’s been doing a lot of strength training and Pilates, especially because her “21-Day Strengthen & Lengthen Program just launched on the Katie Austin App September 16.”
