‘Pay attention and live the dream’ says Minot business owner

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – A colorful business in downtown Minot called Magic City Hoagies and Sweets has evolved through customer experience for the last decade. The fast-casual restaurant serves freshly made sandwiches and almost every sweet dessert you can think of. Owner Christine Staley said they’ve always wanted to make over-the-top creations, like a sandwich that doesn’t fall apart when you eat it. She considers it an all-inclusive space, whether you want something sweet, savory, or just want to sit back and relax. Staley said every corner in her shop is designed to make people happy.

“I realize in the winter it gets gloomy. So to have like palm trees in the windows, it’s kinda surprising. And bright lights and happy, you feel like you’re in a theatrical experience. I’m hoping to bring joy, especially in winter mode,” said Staley.

Staley said the secret to owning a business for a decade now is to pay attention to your customers and live the dream. In her words, it will be hard to stay in business if people don’t listen to their customers.

“Those 10 years, I felt like blocks of time what I realize is that taste change. I realize I needed to evolve what was interesting, but what were people looking for at that time versus what they want to spend. That’s why I’ve changed my menu over the years. I look and listen,” said Staley.
