Toni Kroos has recommended Real Madrid his ‘ideal replacement’

Despite retiring from professional football, Toni Kroos continues to hold immense weight in the Real Madrid camp due to the sheer legacy he has created at Santiago Bernabeu.

The German remains an influential voice and to that end, he has recently suggested an ideal player Real Madrid can sign, in an attempt to replace him in midfield next season.

Kroos recommends Kimmich signing

As reported by Fichajes, Kroos has recommended the signing of Joshua Kimmich to shore up the midfield ranks at Real Madrid.

The German believes the Bayern Munich star can be an excellent replacement for him in the middle of the park due to the qualities he adds to the table.

With almost 400 competitive appearances for Bayern Munich, Kimmich is regarded as one of the most established midfielders in Europe.

In addition to his experience, the German offers a lot of tactical flexibility, as he can operate as a right-back as well.

Real Madrid strongly considering Kroos’ suggestion

The report goes on to add that Real Madrid management has not ignored Kroos’ suggestion and are strongly considering a move for Kimmich.

The Spanish champions are particularly intrigued by the fact that Kimmich’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he could be available as a free agent next summer.

However, Real Madrid could face stiff competition in the race to sign Kimmich next season. Barcelona, for one, have been strongly linked with a move for the German in the past and the presence of Hansi Flick could be a key factor.

Moreover, Bayern themselves are not too keen on losing Kimmich and are expected to do everything they can in order to renew the contract of the German.
