Walmart’s Restored Section Is the Buying Hack You Need for Like-New Tech

Walmart is known for offering some of the lowest prices—and we just found a way to save even more. Unbeknownst to many, the retailer has an online section called Walmart Restored (similar to Amazon Warehouse) which features refurbished electronic favorites, like Apple iPads, smart televisions, and Vitamix blenders, at significant discounts—we saw some items listed for more than 50 percent off.

Walmart uses “restored” to mean “refurbished” and they have clear guidelines about what can be sold in the program, which we’ve explained below. The bottom line: Anything you buy from the Walmart Restored program will be in excellent working order and will come with all required accessories.

How Does Walmart Restored Work?

Walmart currently offers refurbished products for various popular electronics, home appliances, and tools. Sellers and suppliers who join the program must clean, inspect, and test items before re-selling them. There are two tiers of refurbished items on Walmart.com: Restored and Restored Premium.

Restored

All products must be fully functional and considered to be in like-new condition. Walmart acknowledges that the item may have small, light scratches, but they should be invisible at arm’s length, and no scratches are allowed on any screens. If the product comes with accessories (like a charging cord), you may not receive the original cord it came with, but you will get a working, compatible one.

Battery: Restored items will have more than 80 percent of the battery life it had when it was new.

Warranty: Walmart doesn’t require sellers to offer a warranty on Restored items.

Returns: You can return any Restored item for free within 90 days for a full refund.

Restored Premium

Walmart’s Restored Premium products have been refurbished by either the original manufacturer or a manufacturer-authorized partner. These items are also in like-new condition and should have no scratches or signs of damage, however slight.

Battery: Restored items will have more than 90 percent of the battery life it had when it was new.

Warranty: Restored Premium items come with a minimum one-year warranty.

Returns: You can return any Restored Premium item for free within 30 days for a full refund.

How Do I Find Walmart Restored Deals?

You can get to the Walmart Restored page from the Electronics landing page. Scroll down to the Shop by Category section and you’ll see a Walmart Restored button that takes you to the section. Once there, you can narrow your search by category, brand, and Walmart Restored or Restored Premium products.
