Longview business to deliver community donations to Helene victims

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) – A Longview business is seeing an outpouring of community support Tuesday ahead of a donation delivery to Helene victims.

Thomas Oilfield Services in Longview is serving as a drop-off point for donations from the community to take to North Carolina. The collection of essential items will be distributed to victims of the recent Hurricane Helene.

“We have a yard in Midland saying that they had a contact in North Carolina, and that if we would start gathering supplies, that we would have somewhere to send those supplies to,” said Mary Peeler, owner of Thomas Oilfield Services in Longview. “And so we put a Facebook post out here in East Texas, and our community has really come together so far.”

Along with the typical essentials like non-perishable foods, toiletries and infant care items, the organizers say they are also in need of things like pet food, cleaning supplies, work gloves, new clothes and batteries. Wendy Baird with Thomas Oilfield Services said that while they’ve received a great many items, they’re not suffering from an overabundance of donations yet.

“If we have to rally more drivers and more truck drivers and trailers, we’ll do it,” said Baird. “So bring on the stuff and we’ll find a way to get it there.”

Donations will be accepted through 8 p.m. Thursday at Thomas Oilfield Services. The delivery will be sent out Friday morning. For more information on how you can donate, click here.
