Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick’em Plays – October 8

October is here. The playoffs are here. The best sports time of the year is here. If you aren’t familiar with playoff baseball, buckle up. Every pitch and every at-bat is important and can change the course of baseball history. We have two great NLDS matchups tonight! Let’s get into it.

Bryce Harper Higher Than 7.5 Fantasy Points

Bryce Harper is easily one of the best playoff performers since he entered the league. In 51 career postseason games, Harper is hitting .280 with 17 home runs and 33 RBIs. He seems to always come through in a big spot, and the only thing he is missing from his resume is that illustrious World Series ring.

Now, Harper and the Phills head to a hostile environment against a bitter rival. In Game 3, Harper will face Sean Manaea, who looked decent in his Game 2 start in Milwaukee. Bryce has great numbers against Manaea in his career. He is 4-11 with two doubles and a homer, with an xBA of .470.

I expect Harper to have a big Game 3, just as he did in Game 2.

Nick Castellanos Higher Than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs

Like Harper, Castellanos had a huge Game 2 of the NLDS, hitting a huge homer to tie the game and walking off the Mets with an RBI single. I expect more of the same for Castellanos in Game 3. The 32-year-old slugger has great numbers against Sean Manaea as well. He is 6-16 with three homers and a double. In addition, Castellanos smashes lefties with an .830 OPS against LHP in 2024.

I think Manaea is going to have a tough time with this Philly lineup on Tuesday, and Castellanos and Harper seem like they’ll continue to dominate.

Shohei Ohtani Higher Than 9.5 Fantasy Points

Every MLB Divison Series is tied up 1-1. The Dodgers travel to San Diego after a testy Game 2. These two teams flat-out hate each other, and it didn’t help that Dodger fans were throwing things on the field on Monday.

Michael King will be on the hill for the Padres in Game 3 after his dominant performance in the Wild Card round. Unfortunately for him, Shohei Ohtani simply has his number. Ohtani is 6-14 with three homers and a .415 xBA against King. I love Ohtani in this spot.
