‘We’re not going to let you go hungry’: Spartanburg business feeding the community

GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – As the upstate continues to bounce back from Helene, small businesses are stepping up to help the community.

“So you’re getting comfort in a time where it’s a little uncomfortable,” said Jason Greene.

Inside The S.N.O.B—Spartanburg’s New and Old Booth-Tique–the owners Suki and Jason Greene have been working around the clock since Friday.

“We didn’t think it was going to be this bad, I don’t think anybody thought it was going to be this bad,” said Suki Greene.

They’re a vendor market and event space off West Henry Street, but instead of selling, they’re serving.

“To be in a position to be blessed like we are, the only thing necessary to do is give back,” he said.

The business suffered flood damage, but after cleaning up and regaining power, the Greene’s invited people in for A/C, Wi-Fi and charging—eventually rolling out the grill.

“He’s been on the grill all weekend,” said Suki Greene. “People need to eat, there’s hard enough things going on in this world and you don’t want to deal with it on an empty stomach,” said Jason Greene.

Over the last few days, they’ve fed hamburgers, hotdogs and snacks to hundreds, including line workers.

“People saw and they were like hey I want to help, so donations were coming in, and they were like –hey go get more food’ so we just kept going,” she said.

Five days in—and the plan is to continue serving, as long as people are in need.

“We’re not able to feed the world yet, but one meal at a time. One family at a time. Whoever comes through these doors we’re not going to let you go hungry,” he said.

The S.N.O.B will be open and serving again tomorrow afternoon. They’re located on 150 West Henry Street in Spartanburg—down from the post office. You can keep up with them on their Facebook page.
