Texarkana business, community fill three 18-wheelers with donations for victims of Hurricane Helene

TEXARKANA, Ark. (KSLA) – Lost Pizza Company of Texarkana teamed up with the nonprofit, Friends For A Cause Foundation, to fill an 18-wheeler with items for those impacted by Hurricane Helene. One week later, the community response has been overwhelming.

“We started out with one big truck we are now on our third truck, and it is almost full,” said Donnie Spriggs, Lost Pizza Company.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, a truck with the Harvest Regional Food Bank made a donation to the effort. The food bank serves 10 counties in Arkansas and Texas.

“The food banks that are in South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, those are our neighbors that do the same type of work we are doing and we would want them to do the same and we know they would do the same if it happens here in the ArkLaTex,” said Camille Wrinkle, Harvest Regional Food Bank.

Wrinkle says she hope donations will continue to take care of the need in the ArkLaTex.

“It also put pressure on us to rely either on our local donations of food or rely more on our donations of money and the financial resources we have.”

Meanwhile, leaders with Lost Pizza Company say today is the last day items can be dropped off for transport to the storm-effected areas.
