CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying gets back underway in what has been a topsy turvy run so far for South American teams through eight rounds of play. Lionel Messi will return for Argentina with the team still in first place during qualifying but Colombia and Uruguay are hot on their heels. Further down the table, Brazil’s form needs to improve quickly. Sitting in fifth with only one win in their last five matches, the Selecao could find themselves in danger of missing the expanded World Cup in 2026.

Meanwhile, Venezuela are on track to qualify for the World Cup for the first time behind a stout defense and Bolivia are riding strong form into a chance at the interconfederation playoff, hoping to qualify for the first time since 1994 which also took place in the United States. There’s plenty of soccer left to play but let’s take a look at the standings and where to watch the upcoming South American qualifiers.
