At LSU Museum of Art

The LSU Museum of Art in the Shaw Center for the Arts, 100 Lafayette St., will open “In a New Light: American Impressionism 1870-1940, Works from the Bank of America Collection” on Oct. 18; and “Rembrandt, Goya, and Dürer: The Marvel of Old Masters” on Oct. 31.

Tickets are $5 for ages 13 and older and free for ages 12 and younger. For more information, visit lsumoa.org

At Capitol Park Museum

The Capitol Park Museum, 660 N. Fourth St., will host the Lunchtime Lagniappe program, “Race and Education” with Petra Munro Hendry at noon on Oct. 15.

Also, the museum will host a screening of the documentary, “Ancestral Artistry: The Influence of Africans & Creoles on Louisiana Architecture,” at 5 p.m. Oct. 17

Taylor with candles

Plan now to get tickets for the next performances in the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra’s Concert with Candles series, “Taylor Swift,” featuring Rebecca Smith accompanied by a guitar quartet, at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 21-22 in the Cary Saurage Community Arts Center, 233 St. Ferdinand St., Baton Rouge.

Hila Plitmann at LSU

Tickets are on sale for a performance by internationally renowned soprano Hilá Plitmann with the LSU Wind Ensemble, LSU Symphony Orchestra and LSU A Cappella Choir at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15.

Plitmann has a vast repertoire encompassing everything from Bach and Handel to Thelonious Monk, Frank Zappa and Bjork. She’s appeared globally at venues from Buckingham Palace and the Vatican, to Carnegie Hall and as featured soloist on film scores by Hans Zimmer, “Da Vinci Code” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”; Carter Burwell, “Hail, Caesar”; and Theodore Shapiro, “Ghostbusters.”

‘Annie’ at CYT

Tickets are on sale for Christian Youth Theatre’s production of the musical “Annie,” opening Oct. 24, at the Shaver Theatre in the LSU Music and Dramatic Arts Building, Dalrymple Drive.

At NUNU

Artist Denise Verret’s “Enigmas & Entanglements” exhibit of new works runs through Oct. 27, at NUNU Arts & Culture Collective, 1510 Courtableau Highway, Arnaudville. Admission is free. For more information, visit nunucollective.org.
