Watch live: The new Dick’s House of Sport opens Friday morning

The grand opening of Delaware’s first Dick’s House of Sport will feature big stars: Saquon Barkley of the Eagles, Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky, and former Phillies outfielder Jayson Werth.

We will be live from the store’s new location around 7:30 a.m. Friday.

The Dick’s House of Sport in Brandywine Hundred will be one of the first locations in the country for a massive new sports store concept that will include an in-house rock climbing wall, golf simulators, a batting and soccer cage, and a putting green.

This weekend, the store will also welcome some of the biggest stars in Philly and international sports including:

  • Saquon Barkley, a locally raised football star and running back for the Philadelphia Eagles. Friday, Oct. 11, 6-7:30 p.m.
  • Swimmer Katie Ledecky, the winningest American female Olympian ever and holder of multiple world records. Saturday, Oct. 12, noon-1:30 p.m
  • World Series champ Jayson Werth, former right fielder for the Phillies. Sunday, Oct. 13, noon-1:30 p.m.

These times denote when the stars will appear at the store. But first, you’ll need to show up early in the day to procure a wristband, which will grant access to each day’s meet-and-greet and autograph-signing event with the stars.

The new Dick’s House of Sport is located at Brandywine Town Center, at 1000 Brandywine Parkway off Concord Pike. Since last year, construction crews have been busy expanding an already sprawling Dick’s Sporting Goods on-site into the space formerly occupied by Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Wristbands are handed out on a first-come, first-served basis as the store opens each day starting Friday. The store opens at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.

Expect big lines in the morning to get those wristbands: That’s also when the store is giving out gift cards and raffling off prizes.

What discounts and prizes can shoppers expect at the Delaware Dick\’s House of Sport opening?

The ceremony will include the presentation of a Sports Matter grant for youth sports, and a whole lot of giveaways.

Dick’s also promises untold “doorbuster deals” inside the new Dick’s House of Sport, as well as sweepstakes and “parking lot activations.”

But early birds will also be rewarded each day with more giveaways. The first 100 adults (18 years and older) to stand in line each day will receive “mystery gift cards” for an unknown sum. The first 100 children to stand in line will receive a Dick’s Sporting Goods football.
