Apple TV+ is coming to Android devices through Prime Video later this month

Apple TV+ does not have a functioning Android app, even though its library is growing and spans multiple other platforms. That could change, as Prime Video may start offering Apple TV+ as an add-on to its currently available Android app.

Apple TV+ has a good amount to offer not only in shows and movies but also in sports, with MLS and MLB partnerships. Those offerings have been available to users with Android TV, Google TV, iOS devices – of course – and even Windows machines. No Android, however.

There is technically a web app that users can access, though the media player functionality is poor at best. It’s no replacement for using a dedicated app to watch your favorite content.

According to Amazon, Prime Video could start offering Apple TV+ as an add-on subscription as soon as this month. The plan would cost an extra $9.99/month and include original TV shows and movies, like the dedicated app on other operating systems.

The article does note that the add-on would allow access to MLS Season Pass and MLB programming. Ideally, that would mean every single match that’s available through Apple’s dedicated app would also be available through Prime Video, though it’s somewhat unclear.

Prime members who subscribe to Apple TV+ via Prime Video will have access to premium entertainment including Severance, Slow Horses,The Morning Show, Presumed Innocent, Shrinking, Hijack, Loot, Palm Royale, as well as global hit films such as Wolfs, The Instigators and more, plus Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball sporting events.

Apple TV+ through Prime Video would be an excellent development for Android users. If Amazon allows viewers to watch Apple TV+ at no extra cost with an existing subscription, the move would essentially bring Apple TV to Android in an official capacity of some form. That’s better than what is currently available for Android users.

Amazon only notes that this add-on would be available “later this month,” with no additional details available as of yet.
