Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – October 11

Yoshinobu Yamamoto – Higher than 4.5 HIts Allowed

Yamamoto has gone higher than this projection in two of his last four games. That includes game one of this series where the Padres hit him for five hits and five runs. On top of that, these numbers are pretty typical – with 19 starts on the year, he went higher than this mark in nine of them. The recent trend is upwards and the Padres are swinging it right now. Additionally, with the bullpen having to do a lot of work already, they may lean on his arm a little longer.

Manny Machado – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases

Manny Machado may not have picked up any hits in game four, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love him in this spot in game five. For one, he put up a couple of hits in game three, which would have put him over this projection. Also, he has a great, albeit short, history with Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The two have faced five times with Machado going 2-for-4 with a walk. Also, both hits were home runs.

Jackson Merrill – Higher than 0.5 Runs Scored

Jackson Merrill has recorded a hit in just one of the four games in this series. However, he has scored a run in three of the four games in the series – totalling four runs. His speed combined with his ability to draw a walk has been great for the Padres. Additionally, Yamamoto has recorded at least two walks in three of his last four games. It would not surprise me to see Merrill get around the bases early on Friday.
