Crews repair Florida Turnpike as Hurricane Milton evacuees travel

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) crews worked to repair the Florida Turnpike after the road was washed out during Hurricane Milton.

On Thursday, crews first inspected the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike/SR 91 at milepost 280 in Lake County.

Crews quickly began filling the washed-out section of the road and were able to reopen lanes.

All Florida’s Turnpike service plazas are open and have 24-hour convenience stores offering fuel, food, and various amenities.
