EAP plays role in creating new businesses, more jobs

SHREVEPORT, La. The Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program is marking a decade of success by highlighting the achievements of local small businesses. These rising companies are not only making an impact but also creating new jobs and driving economic growth in the region.

On Thursday, 15 Shreveport-based small businesses were recognized for their dedication and contributions to the community.

“They’re expected to create around 150 new jobs in North Louisiana,” said David Smith, executive director of the BRF-Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program.

Among the businesses honored were Disante Health, Peach Therapies and Fungo Man, a company that developed an automated robot to help baseball players improve their hitting and fielding.

“Our machines are used at every level — from professional teams to youth leagues. We’ve also recently launched a dual pitching machine,” said Romy Cucjen, co-founder of Fungo Man.

Thanks to companies like these, Northwest Louisiana has seen $275 million in investment. Smith said the EAP’s impact is only growing.

“In the next decade, we expect to launch another 100 businesses, and some of those will become household names,” Smith said.

Since its inception, the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program has helped 138 startups get off the ground, generating more than 450 jobs in Caddo Parish.
