Sometimes being a top-end talent in the college football media landscape has its challenges.
ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, a former Ohio State quarterback and key member of “College GameDay,” woke up in Eugene, Oregon, on Saturday morning to spend a few hours on ESPN’s pregame show. However, midway through the show, Herbstreit left the set to prepare for another marquee matchup.

Herbstreit left early to catch a flight, as he’s on the call for Oklahoma-Texas in Dallas at 3:30 p.m. ET. The flight is over 2,000 miles from the site of No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 3 Oregon on Saturday.
Of course, with the unique circumstances, ESPN capitalized on its opportunity by vlogging Herbstreit’s odyssey to the State Fair of Texas.
ESPN set up a two-camera setup on Herbstreit, as he was driven to his next location in his travels to Dallas. He also had a microphone and was included on Pat McAfee’s antics with the “College GameDay” student field-goal attempt, which was nailed for $100,000 with Nick Saban holding. It appears as if Herbstreit was even followed by another car while in the convertible.
Herbstreit was later interviewing Colorado coach Deion Sanders from the jet prior to leaving Oregon. He then gave analysis from his flight, which McAfee said sounded “great” even though Herbstreit “looks like a finger-painting.”
ESPN is sending its top crew of Chris Fowler, Holly Rowe and Herbstreit to Oklahoma-Texas, as Ohio State-Oregon, the site of “GameDay” on Saturday, is being aired on NBC.
Herbstreit has had quite the week, as he served as the color analyst of Amazon Prime’s “Thursday Night Football” between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks. He then ventured to Eugene, Oregon, for “GameDay,” before leaving for Dallas on Saturday morning.
