Detroit man arraigned after killing two in gambling dispute

PONTIAC, Mich. – A 32-year-old Detroit man angry that he lost $80 in a dice game was arraigned today on first-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of two men.

Davonte Demetri Franklin is being held without bond in the Oakland County Jail.

He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and three counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

“I have been in this a long time, but it is still shocking to see the lack of value some people place on a human life,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “I look forward to him being held accountable. I am proud of our substation, all our detectives and our partners for the effort that brought this cold-blooded killer into custody within 12 hours.”

Franklin is set to appear in court on October 22nd.
