Yankees open as biggest ALCS favorite since 2000 World Series run

Oddsmakers are liking the Yankees’ chances in the American League Championship Series.

The Bronx Bombers are being priced as one of the biggest ALCS favorites in recent history over the Guardians.

At -210 to advance to the World Series at BetMGM Sportsbook, the Yankees are the biggest pre-championship series favorites in the junior circuit since the 2000 Yankees were -270 favorites over the Mariners, according to Sports Odds History

Only two National League teams have had better odds over that period — the 2020 Dodgers (-220) over the Braves and the 2010 Phillies (-270) over the Giants.

The betting line is a good sign for the Yankees if history is any indication.

Of the 13 teams to have -210 or better odds to win the championship series since 1969, nine of them have moved on to the World Series

All three times the Yankees have been -210 or better in the ALCS (1998, 1999 and 2000), they have won the World Series.

Despite the better championship series chances, the Yankees remain the second-favorites (+180) to win the World Series behind the Dodgers (+160), who have had the best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook to win the title for the better part of the 2024 season.
