Massive Game Freak hack reportedly unearths Pokémon Gen 10, Switch 2 codename, and more

According to trusted Pokémon insider CentroLeaks, Game Freak was hacked earlier today and everything from source codes for older Pokémon games to the Switch 2 codename has now been leaked onto the internet, with more coming in as the day goes on.

  • One of the more surprising discoveries is what is claimed to be a new Pokémon MMO, with a file labeled “mmo_test” being uncovered during the breach.
  • “CODENAME: SYNAPSE,” a battle-focused multiplayer game jointly developed by Game Freak and ILCA appears to be in the works. Some speculate that it could be another entry in the Pokémon Stadium series, though leakers have said that it is a “splatoon like game.”
  • Information about the next Pokémon generation was also obtained, with Gen 10 being referred to as “Gaia,” it being developed for both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and it having the two version names of “K and N.”
  • Switch 2 reportedly has the codename “Ounce.”
  • Source codes and beta builds for Pokémon Heart Gold / Soul Silver and Black 2 / White 2 were leaked alongside everything above.

Details on the hacker and on the info obtained through the breach remain scarce, but we’ll let you know as more news comes in.
