It’s very rare to see two A-listers squabble in public, but that seems to be what happened at Paris Fashion Week between Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek on Sept. 30. A newly surfaced video showed uncharacteristic behavior between the women, and the interaction has fans questioning if they were feuding at the Balenciaga RTW Spring 2025 show.
The clip shows the paparazzi trying hard to wrangle the stars to pose for a snapshot together. Hayek looked like she was trying to organize Kidman and Katy Perry, who stood next to The Perfect Couple star. (You can see the video here.) Hayek gently pushed Kidman to the face the camera lenses, but it looked like she was not pleased with the nudge or the photographers. Kidman grabbed Hayek’s wrist and flicked it away from her as she turned to greet Perry instead. It looked tense as the photographer begged, “One more, please. Ladies, please.”

The women appeared to exchange words as Kidman walked away from Hayek and the Frida star posed for a snapshot with Perry. It was an odd interaction, but body language expert Judi James broke down what she believed happened to the Daily Mail. “Nicole seems to be posing happily with her friend Salma, placing a polite arm round her shoulders while keeping their torsos apart. The problem might possibly first arise when Nicole then turns (with her hair covering her face from the cameras) to have a more personal-looking friendly chat to Salma, who is still working the pose,” she explained.
“In another clip, we can see Salma apparently trying to steer Nicole around and away from her using an arm and a hand that could, although possibly not touching, be seen or felt as directive and a little superior,” James added. “Nicole appears to push the hand away, suggesting the mimed touch breached some kind of silent etiquette, as in a possible ‘I’ll choose when I go or where I move to.’”
Hayek was likely trying to get as many publicity photos for her husband, François-Henri Pinault, who is the CEO of Balenciaga’s parent company, Kering. Kidman is the ambassador for Balenciaga, a position she’s held since December 2023. So, that matter seems a bit complicated when the boss’ wife is also an A-list star, or maybe it was much ado about nothing.
