NCAA Football (0.5 Unit) South Alabama Team Total Over 34.5 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 6:30 PM CT on ESPN2

It’s got to feel good to be home if you’re South Alabama, as the Jaguars have played three straight on the road. Their offense took a couple steps back in the past two games, but tonight is a spot where I think they can get back to the high-scoring ways they showed early in September.

This is a rivalry game between two schools close to each other, so the Jaguars will be motivated to put a big number on a bad Troy defense. The Trojans have had trouble against offenses like South Alabama’s as they’re weak in the secondary and can’t pressure the quarterback. The past 3 games against competent offenses have seen Troy allow 38 points each time, and I see the Jaguars matching that level of production here.

NCAA Football (0.5 Unit) Louisiana Tech/New Mexico St Over 50 (-110; Odds via Caesars): 8:00 PM CT on ESPNU

I was very surprised to see this total where it is, since there will be absolutely no defense played by New Mexico State tonight. The Aggies have seen their past two opponents reach this total themselves, and I think Louisiana Tech is in for a big night offensively. The Bulldogs made a switch at quarterback to freshman Evan Bullock, which hasn’t been accounted for properly in this total.

Bullock finally broke out last week against a bad defense, and LaTech is more than willing to turn him loose. The Aggies are extremely soft in the run game ranking dead last in rushing yards allowed, so teams usually choose that way to torch them. But the Bulldogs can expose the back end of the country’s 9th-most generous defense, while NMSU plays catch-up all game, finding their way over this total.
