Gleaning for the World seeks stuffed animal donations in Southside Virginia

Gleaning for the World is giving Southsiders a chance to donate new or lightly loved stuffed animals to those in need.

Known as their annual Teddy Bear Brigade—James McLaughlin, director of disaster response for Gleaning for the World, said people can visit Danville Toyota or Global Home Furnishing in Danville from now until October 24 to drop off donations.

He added they have already handed out 1,000 stuffed animals to those in need this month— but they are always looking for more.

“We always have a big need going into the holiday season, and now with two major hurricanes the need is great. We definitely can find homes for every stuffed animal that people are able to donate,”McLaughlin said.

He said they are also hosting an event this Friday at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Chatham collecting stuffed animals and disaster supplies for those in need.
