South of 6 Iowa City Business District appoints Maurice Davis as executive director
The South of 6 Iowa City Business District has announced the appointment of Maurice A. Davis as its new executive director.
In his new position, Mr. Davis will spearhead initiatives to fulfill the community vision for the South of 6, a Self-Supported Municipal Improvement District (SSMID). He succeeds Angie Jordan, who stepped down on May 17 due to a medical diagnosis.
Mr. Davis graduated from Upper Iowa University with a bachelor’s in finance and a master’s degree in business from Capella University. According to the South of 6’s announcement on LinkedIn, his career has been marked by a commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, having developed successful business ecosystems that support local enterprises.
Recognized by the Corridor Business Journal in 2022 as one of the top 250 business leaders in the region, Mr. Davis has also been acknowledged by Marketing 2.0 as a leading figure in marketing.

Now settled into his new role, Mr. Davis invites the community to meet him at an Open House at the South District Market, 947 US-6 in Iowa City, on Oct. 30 from 3 – 7 p.m.
