Here’s how you can see the world’s largest operating steam locomotive

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – The world’s largest operating steam locomotive is in Kansas City, Missouri.

Union Pacific’s No. 4014, aka “Big Boy,” arrived at Union Station Tuesday evening and will be available for up-close public viewing on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

Union Station Kansas City said the legendary steam locomotive is in Kansas City as part of Union Pacific’s Heartland of America Tour. Train enthusiasts can see the locomotive for up-close viewing and photo opportunities between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and then again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

The train will depart on Thursday, Oct. 17 at approximately 9 a.m.

Anyone planning to check out the steam locomotive can pay $10 to park at Union Station’s West Yards Parking Garage from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
