Private Sector Jobs Up 2.7% in Cortland County – X101 Always Classic – WXHC.com

The New York State Department of Labor reports the state as a whole is down 2,900 private sector jobs for the month of September 2024. The state unemployment rate remained the same at 4.4%. 

New was better for Cortland County though, which saw an increase of 2.7% for the month of September ‘24 when compared to September ‘23. In total, the county reported to have 19,200 private sector jobs; in 2023, the county had 18,700.

Tompkins County saw a loss of 600 private sector jobs, a decrease of 1%. The county now has 61,500 private sector jobs reported for September. Last year, the county had 62,100 private sector jobs.
