Here are the top Topeka-area high school sports performers from Oct. 14-19

TOPEKA — The regular season is winding down for fall high school sports. Golf and tennis turn to the state championships while playoff seeding is on the line for soccer and volleyball. Cross country runners begin to taper as championship running around the corner.
Here are the top performances from the Topeka area from Oct. 14-19.

Boys
Tuesday, Oct. 15
Antonio Aguirre, Topeka High soccer: The striker broke the deadlock with a nice strike in the final 10 minutes of the match to help Topeka High defeat Seaman 2-1.
Logan Townsend, Seaman soccer: Townsend scored the opening goal of the game against Topeka High. He hit the strike off of a free kick which helped the Vikings take a 1-0 lead, but they wouldn’t be able to hold on as Topeka High earned the 2-1 win.
Camden Granado, Shawnee Heights soccer: The junior scored three second half goals in Shawnee Heights’ match against Hayden. The two teams would end up tying 4-4 after settling for a scoreless overtime period.
Preston Meitner, Hayden soccer: The senior scored the game-tying goal in the final minute of play to send the game to overtime against Shawnee Heights. The two teams could not find a goal in overtime as it finished in a 4-4 tie.
Wednesday, Oct. 16
Diego Gonzalez-Talavera, Topeka West soccer: The striker set the tone early for the Chargers as he netted the opening goal. He propelled the Chargers to a 2-0 win over Topeka High as they have won eight straight matches.
Seaman’s Brody Anderson breaks down his Topeka City Invitational win
Seaman’s Brody Anderson won the Topeka City Invitational at Hummer Sports Park on Saturday. The junior breaks down his victory with a time of 15:36.
Thursday, Oct. 17
Brody Anderson, Seaman cross country: The junior won the United Kansas Conference Championship with a time of 16:21. He was 27 seconds faster than the field to claim the individual crown.
Adrian Lehman, Topeka West cross country: The senior took third place in the UKC Championship with a 16:52 as he was the top runner for the Chargers.
Evan Carter, Shawnee Heights cross country: The senior led the Thunderbirds at the UKC Championship with a 17:49 which placed him fifth overall.
Aemon Coffman, Silver Lake cross country: The senior led Silver Lake at the Big East League Championship with a time of 18:14 which placed him sixth overall.
Dominick Schnider, Royal Valley cross country: The senior won the inaugural Big East League Championship with a time of 17:11.
Brodye Kocher-Munoz, Washburn Rural soccer: The sophomore scored a brace as he lifted Washburn Rural to a 6-1 win after falling behind early in the match against Seaman.
Kaelon Taylor, Seaman soccer: The striker scored the opening goal of the game against Washburn Rural. The Vikings couldn’t hang on for a result, but Taylor’s strike was a highlight.

Girls
Monday, Oct. 14
Taylor Zordel, Silver Lake golf: The senior earned another victory as she won the regional championship a nine-over round. Zordel led the team to the team title, too.
Natalie Peterson, Washburn Rural golf: The senior fired a 77 at regionals to lead the Junior Blues. She took third place and was only a few shots off of the individual title.
Makenna Stuke, Seaman golf: The junior led Seaman at regional golf qualifying herself for next week’s state championship. She took second place with a round of 90 as Seaman took the team title, too.
Addyson Baer, Hayden golf: Baer was the top player for the Wildcats at the regional championship. She helped the Wildcats take the team title with her round of 79.

Tuesday, Oct. 15
Kinley Wilhelm, Seaman volleyball: The senior came up clutch in big plays for the Vikings. She helped Seaman take down Class 6A No. 1 Blue Valley West and Shawnee Heights in a triangular. Wilhelm also recorded her 1,000th career dig in the wins.
Thursday, Oct. 17
Maegan Mills, Seaman volleyball: The senior was all over the floor for the Vikings. She was fantastic in gathering kills while playing defense on Senior Night. Mills helped Seaman take down Washburn Rural and St. James Academy in a triangular.
Layla Collins, Washburn Rural volleyball: The senior was engaged and precise in her hitting against St. James Academy. She helped the Junior Blues earn the win over the Thunder. Collins hit the 750 career kills milestone last week, too.
Ryin Miller, Seaman cross country: The stand-out senior won the United Kansas Conference Championship with a 17:58.
Stella Appelhanz, Seaman cross country: The senior Tok fourth place in the UKC Championship in a time of 20:56. She helped the Vikings in the team title by 35 points.
Alessandra Gerber, Silver Lake cross country: The sophomore led the Eagles with a 20:56 at the Big East League Championship with a fifth place finish.
Eva Cortes, Holton cross country: The senior won the first ever Big East League Championship with a time of 20:06 on her home course.
