Here’s Why Gisele Bündchen Declined an Invitation to Walk the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show officially came back for the first time since its hiatus in 2019, and most of the OG Angels returned to the runway for the occasion. We’re talking Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, and Tyra Banks, among others—but fans of the Y2K shows may have noticed that Gisele Bündchen was nowhere to be seen. Per TMZ, the Brazilian model was asked to reunite with the other Angels at the 2024 show and politely declined the offer with “no hard feelings.”

Gisele—who walked in the VSFS from 1996 to 2006—retired from walking runway shows in 2020 and declined despite her longstanding relationship with the lingerie giant. TMZ‘s sources revealed that Victoria’s Secret had invited the model to join the cast in June, when her team politely declined and explained that “she no longer wants to walk runways for shows.”

Insiders also told the outlet that the former head of French Vogue, Emmanuelle Alt, is close to the model and “tried to convince” her to come out of retirement for VSFS’s comeback in New York. She reportedly still declined, emphasizing her desire to remain off the runway.

During her Angel era, Gisele made history as she modeled the coveted Red Hot Fantasy Bra, which had a value of $15 million when she wore it in 2000. While she didn’t sport it on the runway, it was featured in the VS catalogue and could only be bought with a cashier’s check. Gisele also appeared in Victoria’s Secret’s The Icons campaign in 2023. Candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima, Paloma Elsesser, Naomi Campbell, Hailey Bieber, Emily Ratajkowski, and Adut Akech also played a part in the campaign.
