JWCC Maker Fest highlights careers, technical jobs
QUINCY (WGEM) – October is Career and Technical Education Month and John Wood Community College celebrated the occasion by inviting hundreds of high school students to campus.
On Friday, JWCC held their Maker Fest at the Workforce Development Center.
Students were able to engage in hands-on demonstrations and visit with local manufacturers about career opportunities in fields like welding, manufacturing and logistics.
”Working with the manufacturers, they are in need of employees with these particular skills so the more we can connect students with those opportunities it’s a win-win for everybody,” said JWCC Admissions Director Kristen Ritterbusch.
More than 300 students got to explore JWCC’s career tech programs at the Maker Fest.
