NYC is hiring: These entry-level jobs require minimal experience and no civil service exam

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — There are close to 350 entry-level jobs currently available in NYC government – many of which require no civil service exam and minimal job-site experience.

According to the JobsNYC portal, there are a range of open positions throughout the five boroughs, most full-time, working for a variety of city agencies. Job titles include everything from Catch Basin Inspector to Public Health Assistant.

Here’s a look at some of the spots currently available on Staten Island, according to the portal:

Community Liaison for the Richmond County District Attorney, $24 – $30 per hour

Develops and delivers presentations and initiatives that address and raise awareness on issues including the drug epidemic, gun violence, domestic violence, identity theft and more. Collaborates on a regular basis with the NYPD, government agencies, elected officials and other stakeholders for the purpose of building effective communication, enhancing relationships and promoting a positive public image.

Office Associate, Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene, $45,040 – $51,796 per year

Reporting to the director, the office associate will support the NYC Early Intervention Program’s Staten Island Office to ensure smooth office operations and support child case processing. The office associate will perform receptionist duties, in person and on the phone, greeting families and providers. They will also help to manage electronic case files, create Microsoft Word documents, send emails using Microsoft Outlook, and perform other clerical/office duties.

Supervisor Painter, Dept. of Transportation, $57.90 per hour

The Department of Transportation is hiring a supervisor painter who will report to the Ferry Maintenance Facility. The supervisor painter is responsible for the work of painters and other assigned personnel in connection with interior and exterior painting on commercial and industrial DOT properties and performs related work.

Case Management Worker, Dept. of Social Services, $45,329 – $52,128 per year

The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) is recruiting to hire two caseworkers to conduct interviews for the purpose of completing the child support application, build case records, and locate non-custodial parents. Interviews are both in-person and telephone.

Cancer Case Management Nurse, FDNY, $106,301 per year

The Fire Department, City of New York (FDNY), seeks a full-time case management nurse in the Bureau of Health Services, World Trade Center Program located in Staten Island. Reporting directly to the WTC Nursing Supervisor, the successful candidate will maintain a comprehensive case management system for the WTC Oncology Program in the FDNY WTC Medical Monitoring and Treatment Program for active and retired members of the FDNY.
