All Of Apple’s iPhone 16 Models Are Taken Through An Extensive Battery Drain Test, With A Surprise Winner At The End Of The Endurance Run

Apple had previously claimed that its iPhone 16 Pro Max sports the highest battery life out of the entire lineup, and it lasts the longest out of any iPhone model ever released, with an endurance of 29 hours in video playback. However, the company’s claims will definitely be questioned at the end of the latest battery drain test, which pits all four models against one another, giving us an unexpected winner at the end.

iPhone 16 Plus ends up lasting the longest, questioning Apple’s claims of the iPhone 16 Pro Max flaunting the highest runtime

The differences between all iPhone 16 models when it comes to battery life will be less pronounced because Apple has mass produced the A18 and A18 Pro using the same 3nm ‘N3E’ process. This means that the LTPO OLED upgrade present on the ‘Pro’ models, along with other changes will be one of the deciding factors for which handset lasts the longest. The YouTube channel PhoneBuff decided to take all four models for a spin, carefully calibrating each device so that the chances of deviation are minimized.

It is unsurprising to see the iPhone 16 power down the first, lasting for 9 hours and 38 minutes, and combined with that 16-hour standby time that remained consistent for every model test this time, we witnessed a total runtime of 25 hours and 38 minutes. The iPhone 16 Pro’s battery did not take long to deplete shortly after, as it garnered an endurance of 9 hours and 43 minutes, with a combined period of 25 hours and 43 minutes. As stated earlier, there was a surprise winner in this test, and it was the iPhone 16 Plus.

The larger non-Pro offering outlasted its brothers with a ‘screen on’ time of a whopping 12 hours and 12 minutes, with a total runtime of 28 hours and 12 minutes. The iPhone 16 Plus lasted for 11 minutes longer than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, meaning that based on this test, if you want the highest endurance out of all the handsets present in this video, you should skip the ‘Pro’ models, save some money and get the iPhone 16 Plus instead.

Keep in mind that the YouTuber mentioned at the start of the test that these results are estimates, and that the numbers seen here could be different each time the same test is run, so it is important that proper calibration is done each time a battery drain run is conducted.
