iPhone 17 ‘Air’ Could Be No Different Than The iPhone SE 4 With A Single Lens Camera And Aluminum Frame, But Apple Will Charge A Premium Price

The design of Apple’s iPhone lineup has become stagnant over the past few years, and it is about the company making the required changes if it does not want to lose its sales. While the company is adding new features like Apple Intelligence to the mix, the external design plays an important role in users upgrading to the latest models. The company has big plans for the future of the iPhone as we have heard various rumors suggesting that the company will offer a new model next year, possibly called the iPhone ‘Air,’ and the device will feature 8GB of RAM and a single 48MP camera lens.

iPhone 17 ‘Air’ to come with 8GB of RAM for Apple Intelligence and a single lens camera

There have been conflicting reports regarding the design and the feature set of the iPhone 17 ‘Air,’ but we do know that the company is planning a new variant that could be priced higher than the current models. Ming-Chi Kuo has previously stated that the device will come with an A19 chip, and the front of the display will feature Dynamic Island with a single-lens camera on the back. Furthermore, it will be one of the first Apple devices to feature its custom 5G modems.

In his recent research notes (via MacRumors), analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International states that the iPhone 17 ‘Air’ will come with a 6.6-inch display, slightly smaller than the iPhone 16 Plus but bigger than the iPhone 16 Pro. The analyst also claims that the chip powering the device will be A19 instead of the A19 Pro, based on TSMC’s 3nm architecture. We suspect that it will house the same chip as the standard iPhone 17 lineup.

As for the design, the ‘Air’ will come with an aluminum frame and a single 48MP camera on the back. So far, based on reports and rumors, the iPhone 17 ‘Air’ does not look to be an appealing option other than the design, as the company does not use premium metals such as titanium for the finish. However, coupled with the A19 chip, the device will also feature 8GB of RAM, which is necessary for the Apple Intelligence feature to work. The price of the device was previously rumored to be higher than that of the ‘Pro’ models, but it remains to be seen how the company will justify it with design changes alone.

The analyst expects Apple to upgrade the design for at least one of the models of the iPhone 17, which is expected to be quite slimmer than the current models. Based on our understanding, the iPhone 17 Air appears to be a slimmer model of the iPhone SE 4, which is also in the works with a release schedule expected in the Spring. The device will launch in September of next year,
